R Bootcamp Part 3: Data Visualization in R

R Bootcamp Part 3: Data Visualization in R

The R Bootcamp is a series of four hands-on R workshops that will provide the participant with the knowledge of key foundational concepts necessary for analyzing and understanding data within R. The Bootcamp will introduce the RStudio interface, the basics of programming in R, how to clean and organize data in R, and how to visualize data in R. Bootcamp participants will gain the foundational skills necessary to conduct several data science and data analysis tasks within R.

This workshop will cover fundamental concepts for creating effective data visualization using the popular R plotting package, ggplot2. We will review fundamental concepts for visually displaying quantitative information, such as using series of small multiples, avoiding "chart-junk," and maximizing the data-ink ratio. We will cover the grammar of graphics in the ggplot2 package (geoms, aesthetics, stats, and faceting) to create beautiful plots layer-by-layer. Upon completing this lesson, learners will be able to use ggplot2 to explore high-dimensional datasets. This session will be taught via Zoom: a link to the Zoom session will be sent in the confirmation and reminder emails.
