This workshop will cover fundamental concepts for creating effective data visualization and tables using R. We will review fundamental concepts for visually displaying quantitative information, such as using series of small multiples, avoiding "chart-junk," and maximizing the data-ink ratio. We will cover the grammar of graphics in the ggplot2 package (geoms, aesthetics, stats, and faceting) to create beautiful plots layer-by-layer. We will also explore methods of creating descriptive statistics tables directly in R. Upon completing this lesson, learners will be able to use ggplot2 to explore high-dimensional datasets and create publication-ready tables.
